India is the most sought-after destination in the world for outsourced businesses, global management firm AT Kearney declared on Tuesday. The country ranked highest among 55 others in 2016 on the firm’s Global Services Location Index, which measures financial attractiveness and business environment, the Economic Times reported.

Next on the list were China, Malaysia, Brazil and Indonesia, the company’s study said. A partner at AT Kearney said companies have started looking beyond India’s major metropolises and are investing in talent at tier 3 cities such as Surat, Nagpur and Lucknow. This ensures that real estate prices are reasonable, and labour is readily available with low rates of attrition in these cities.

Experts said China is quickly gaining on India, with Chinese workers gaining skills and the country recently devaluing the Renminbi. The ranking index is widely used by companies around the world to gauge their outsourcing plans.
