The next time you're watching a YouTube video, don't be surprised if you see an ad with an Australian army general telling you to stay away from his country.

Australia is an entire ocean away from India. But that hasn't stopped Indians from trying to smuggle themselves into the country, sometimes on boats that set off from Puducherry. The Australian government has for long insisted that illegal immigrants who make it to their land will "never, ever be allowed to settle" in their country. And to make sure their message is actually heard, the country has decided to speak in the language of the immigrants.

The video features stern Lieutenant General Angus Campbell, who oversees Australia's border protection force, standing next to a board that says "No Way." Or in the case of the video you're likely to see in North India, "Koi tareeka nahi hai."

In a rather blunt campaign, the Australian government has put out a series of advertisements and videos which deter people from travelling illegally to the island country. The video features commander Angsus Campbell warning the world that Australia will not provide shelter for asylum seekers trying to get there by boat.

Campbell dives into explanation of the treatment that boat travellers can expect. “They are turned away,” he says with Hindi translation hard coded over his voice. “Or they are stopped for questioning and asked to go somewhere else”.

The videos were launched in April and have been translated into several languages, including Tamil, Bengali, Urdu and Arabic. Watch the Hindi version below:.
