SHOPPING & STYLE Kitsch Mandi at D'Monte Park

The second edition of Kitsch Mandi flea market, which is part of the ongoing Celebrate Bandra festival, will feature a shopping bazaar, food market and music and stand-up comedy performances. You can shop for costume jewellery by Urban Kala, fashion and home accessories by Accessory Funk, bags by Dhaaga Handcrafts, garden accessories by The Green Window, T-shirts by Madtripin and jewellery by Shop Lune. In between the stall hopping, you can nosh on meals in a bowl by the Little Food Co., sandwiches by Pack-a-Pav, skewered snacks by The Stick House, burgers and hot dogs by Between Breads, north Indian fare by Biryani Affair and waffles with inventive toppings by Waffle House. Over the four-day festivities, you can watch performances by a cappella group Voctronica, stand-up comedy by Varun Thakur and Rajasthani folk music by The Kutle Khan Project. FILM Phantom India + Notes for a Film on India at the Dr. BhauDaji Lad Museum
Two films made in 1969 will be shown at the Museum's monthly screening of cinema curated by filmmaker Avijit Mukul Kishore and architect Rohan Shivkumar. Louis Malle's Phantom India: The Impossible Camera is an episode from the French New Wave exponent's seven-part television series on the country titled Phantom India. Pier Paolo Pasolini's Notes for a Film on India documents the Italian director's search for actors and locations for a future film on India. Writer and art critic Girish Shahane will introduce the films and discuss them after the screening. There is no entry fee.

THEATRE Stories In A Song at Prithvi Theatre

MUSIC Sama’a: The Mystic Ecstasy – Festival of Sufi Music at the NCPA
The seventh instalment of the annual event organised by the National Centre for the Performing Arts to “celebrate Sufi music traditions across the world” will comprise three performances over three days. Folk singer Hemant Chauhan and Hindustani classical vocalist Satyasheel Deshpande will render works by saint-poet Kabir at the Experimental Theatre on Friday, November 20 (at 7.30pm; tickets priced at Rs 250 and Rs 300 per head). On Saturday, November 21, Turkish-Austrian dancer and choreographer Ziya Azazi will present two solo productions: Bolero in preview will be staged at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre and Ember at the open-air plaza (at 6pm; tickets for both are priced at Rs 250, Rs 500, Rs 750 and Rs 1,000 per head). THEATRE Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon at Prithvi Theatre
Director Sunil Shanbag’s Hindi adaptation of Shakespeare’s All’s Well That Ends Well, originally staged in Gujarati, is located in three places: Gujarat, Mumbai at the turn of the century, and Rangoon. Heli is in love with Bharatram, the son of her guardian. Bharatram leaves their village in Gujarat to work for his opium-exporting uncle in Mumbai and, after a forced marriage to Heli, flees to Rangoon. Heli pursues him and engineers a happy ending. ART Unpacking the Studio: Celebrating the Jehangir Sabavala Bequest at the Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation
This exhibition comprises the late artist's paintings and personal articles such as diaries, sketchbooks and portfolios that were donated by his wife Shirin Sabavala to the Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation, which is housed inside the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya. The show, which has been curated by Ranjit Hoskote, places Jehangir Sabavala's work in the context of his artistic inspirations, his education in Mumbai, London and Paris, and his practice among his peers from the 1930s to the 1950s. Tickets to enter the museum are priced at Rs 20 per head for children between the ages of five and twelve, Rs 70 per head for Indians above the age of twelve, and Rs 300 per head for foreigners above the age of twelve; free entry for children below the age of five.
