Aam Aadmi Party legislator Akhilesh Tripathi was on Thursday detained by the Delhi Police concerning a 2013 case of rioting and criminal intimidation, and sent to jail for two days, PTI reported. Tripathi was earlier issued a non-bailable warrant for his non-appearance in the case and was brought to a Delhi court on Thursday by the police. The AAP legislator was among five people who were accused on March 9, 2013, of entering into an altercation with some others.

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal had earlier in the month complained to the home ministry, accusing the Delhi police of creating cases and reopening old cases against his party members. Other AAP members who have been incarcerated include former Delhi Law Minister Jitendra Singh Tomar, Manoj Kumar, Somnath Bharti and Surinder Singh.
