The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Thursday announced the venues for India's extended cricket season this year, which begins in September and will carry on till March 2017. The season will begin with the Duleep Trophy in September, which will be played under lights and with a pink ball.

New Zealand will tour India in October for three Test matches and five One-Day Internationals. The tests will be played in Indore, Kanpur and Kolkata, while the venues for the ODIs are Dharamsala, Delhi, Mohali, Ranchi and Vizag.

England will play five Tests against India starting in November, which be held in Mohali, Rajkot, Mumbai, Vizag and Chennai. They will also play three ODIs in Pune, Cuttack and Kolkata, and three more Twenty20 Internationals in Bengaluru, Nagpur and Kanpur.

In February 2017, Australia will travel to India for a four-Test series, scheduled to be held at Bengaluru, Dharamsala, Ranchi and Pune. Bangladesh is also slated to play a one-off Test in Hyderabad.

Rajkot, Visakhapatnam, Pune, Dharamsala, Ranchi and Indore will be hosting Test matches for the first time. "I welcome the new Test venues hosting this prestigious format of cricket and their arrival will take Test match cricket, to every corner of the country," said BCCI President Anurag Thakur.

In total, 918 matches will be organised in the entire season, including the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Deodhar Trophy, Irani Trophy, women’s cricket and all other age-group cricket.
