Textile Minister Smriti Irani has been dropped as a special invitee of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, weeks after she was replaced by Prakash Javadekar as the human resource development minster. Javadekar, along with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anant Kumar and Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan, has been included in the committee, NDTV reported.

Weeks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi reshuffled his Cabinet, he has now made changes to his Cabinet committees, which are key decision-making bodies of the government. DV Sadananda Gowda and Rajiv Pratap Rudy were also dropped from the panel, while Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was made a member, PTI reported.

Minister of State (independent charge) for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs SS Ahluwalia and Minister of State for Law PP Chaudhary have been made special invitees to the parliamentary affairs panel, which is headed by Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh and recommends the dates of Parliament sessions.

The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs has three new members – Anant Kumar, Health Minister JP Nadda and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. Anant Kumar was included in the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs as well as in the Cabinet Committee on Accommodation. The members of the Cabinet Committee on Security and the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet remain unchanged.
