Aam Aadmi Party's Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan was arrested in connection with a sexual assault case filed by his sister-in-law in Delhi on Wednesday, The Indian Express reported. Police at the Jamia Nagar station had reportedly refused to arrest him when he went to surrender himself on Sunday.

Khan had alleged that the police personnel were working “under pressure” but did not arrest him on Sunday as they feared a public outburst. A police official said, "We will not arrest him now. Whatever he is doing is of his own accord. We will go by our investigation," NDTV reported.

The complainant had approached the Jamia Nagar police station on September 10 and alleged that Khan had asked her to get into a physical relationship with him. A senior police officer told The Times of India that she has also accused her husband of demanding dowry and pressuring her to get "physically intimate" with Khan. Sisodia claimed Khan had not had any contact with the woman in four years since she had been separated from her husband. Khan had denied the allegations and had offered to resign from all government posts. His offer to resign was turned down by the party leaders, who claimed he was being dragged into a family dispute.

In July, Khan was arrested on charges of molestation levelled against him by a 35-year-old woman. He was later granted bail. Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had accused the central government of "sending Delhites to jail under false cases".
