Experts wrote Bihar School Examination Board Class 12 topper Ruby Rai’s answer sheets, according to a report by the Forensic Science Laboratory investigating the matter. The report said that Rai only wrote one paper out of the six written by students giving the Class 12 examination, the Hindustan Times reported on Sunday.

The Patna police further said that several of Rai’s answer sheets did not have the state education board’s watermark, proving they were “inserted post the examination”. The laboratory is yet to submit its reports on the examination sheets of other toppers in the state.

Rai, who topped the Arts stream, was arrested by police in Bihar on June 25 after she failed a re-test. The 17-year-old was asked to appear for a re-examination, first on June 3 and then again on June 17. She told police that her father made her the top-ranker while she had only asked him to help her pass the examinations.

Earlier that month, the BSEB cancelled the results of Rai and another topper, Saurav Srestha, after they failed to answer questions about their subject in a video that went viral online. A First Information Report was filed against the management of their college, three students including Rai and Srestha, and the staff at various examination and evaluation centres.
