Edited interview of Modi on DD creates stir
Congress president Sonia Gandhi's daughter and campaigner Priyanka Gandhi Vadra gave a terse reply to Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's purported suggestion during an interview that he thinks of her as a daughter. When asked to comment on Modi's remarks, Vadra said that she is Rajiv Gandhi's daughter. However, as it turned out, parts of Modi's interview with central broadcaster Doordarshan had been edited out. What Modi actually said was: "I will never take offence to what Priyanka says as a daughter. A daughter is after all a daughter." Other portions of the interview were also reportedly edited out, including Modi's comments on Pervez Musharraf, the former Pakistan president, and Ahmed Patel, the political secretary to Sonia Gandhi. However, Doordarshan clarified that there was no deliberate editing or omission.

Modi may not have violated code: Ahmedabad police
The Ahmedabad police on Thursday said that Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi may not have violated the Election Commission's model code of conduct by giving a speech to the media and taking a picture with the party's election symbol after voting on Wednesday, since he was outside the 100-metre radius of the polling station. In a statement, a senior official from the Ahmedabad Crime Branch said that their preliminary probe had revealed that authorities had marked the radius with a white strip outside the booth, and the press conference was held outside this official limit. Two First Information Reports had been filed against Modi for violating the model code of conduct on Wednesday.
