Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Sunday claimed that an idol in a temple in Madhubani district was cleaned after his visit. Manjhi, who belongs to the traditionally backward Musahar caste of Dalits, said that he was informed of the incident by Mines and Geology Minister Ram Lakhan Ram Raman. "I came to know later that the premises and the sanctum sanctorum were cleansed after my visit," Manjhi said. "This shows that the mindset against people from marginalised sections of society still exists."
Maharashtra: BJP to begin election campaign on Tuesday
Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah has decided to conduct 300 public meetings across Maharashtra in two days. Through these meetings that will begin on Tuesday, the BJP is hoping to increase its visibility before the state assembly polls on October 15. Gujarat: Police arrest 40 persons for rioting in Vadodara
Vadodara police have arrested 40 persons for riot-related offences, since clashes between the Hindu and Muslim community began last week.
