Rajasthan: Ashok Gehlot tests positive for swine flu
Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot tested positive for swine flu. Rajasthan has been struggling to contain the spread of the H1N1 virus, which has claimed nearly 30 lives in January. Gehlot on Sunday tweeted that his condition has improved due to timely treatment of the virus. He had complained of fever, cough and cold after returning from Delhi late last week. The Congress leader used his illness as an opportunity to criticise the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Rajasthan over the handling of the situation.

Delhi: Sonia Gandhi criticises Kejriwal, Modi at rally
Congress president Sonia Gandhi addressed her first rally on Sunday ahead of the Delhi polls. At the event, she criticised both Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal, calling the prime minister  a "pracharak" and the Aam Aadmi Party chief ministerial candidate a "dharnebaaj". She criticised the ruling government of making hollow promises and inciting communal violence in order to capture power.

Uttarakhand: Avalanche alert issued
An avalanche alert has been issued in Uttarakhand following information communicated by the Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment in Chandigarh. The alert has been issued for three days starting from Sunday. “Forces deployed in the border districts of Uttarakhand hills have all been alerted to deal with any eventuality,” said Disaster Management and Mitigation Centre Executive Director Piyush Rautela. "However, there is no need to panic as all arrangements are in place." A similar alert has been issued for Jammu and Kashmir as well which has seen heavy snowfall in the past few days.

Maharashtra: Shiv Sena plays down rumours of rift with BJP
Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray has played down the news of a rift with its coalition partner, the Bharatiya Janata Party, over an editiorial in the Sena mouthpiece Saamna. The editorial criticised the BJP in its handling of drought relief for farmers in Vidarbha. It had also criticised chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, both hailing from the same region. “Whatever assurances and promises were made before the elections, it is our duty to get it fulfilled and implemented effectively,” Thackeray said. "Shiv Sena will work together with the BJP for the same."

Bengal: Matang Sinh admitted in hospital after being arrested
Former union minister and Congress leader Matang Sinh on Sunday was admitted to a state-run hospital after he complained of  illness. Sinh was arrested on Saturday for his alleged role in the multi-crore Saradha scam. He has been remanded to 13 days in police custody. The Central Bureau of Investigation has charged Sinh with criminal conspiracy, cheating and misappropriation of funds.
