Delhi: Government opposed Gamlin’s appointment due to her proximity with discoms
The Aam Aadmi party government in Delhi accused Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung of acting in an unconstitutional manner by appointing Shakuntala Gamlin interim chief secretary of state on Friday. Government was opposed to Gamlin’s appointment due to her proximity to power distribution companies and accused her of lobbying for their interests. "The Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor has acted against the Constitution, GNCT of Delhi Act and the Transaction of Business Rules," read the statement released on Friday evening. Gamlin’s has been appointed as KK Sharma, the present chief secretary is on leave.

Bihar: RJD, JD(U) clash over seat-sharing for assembly polls
Rashtriya Janata Dal and Janata Dal (United) on Friday clashed over seat-sharing arrangement for the Bihar assembly polls to be held in October. A senior leader of the RJD Raghuvansh Prasad claimed that his party should get 145 of the 217 seats in the elections. However, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar brushed aside the demand and jokingly replied, “Why 145? The entire 243 seats are available.” RJD and JD(U) are coalition partners in the upcoming assembly elections. The numbers of the 2010 polls should not be considered as benchmark in seat sharing, Prasad added. JD(U) had won 117 seats in the last state elections while the Lalloo Prasad-led RJD had secured only 24 seats.

Telangana: Rahul Gandhi refers to chief minister as “mini-modi” during visit to state
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi indirectly compared state Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao as “mini-Modi” during his 15-kilometre long walk to assess farmer woes in Telangana on Friday. "When the unseasonal rains came and when there was hailstorm, Modi did nothing. The 'mini Modi' in Telangana also did nothing," he said. Continuing his opposition to the amendments to Land Acquisition Bill, Gandhi set out on a walk from Koritical village Adilabad District to meet distressed farmers in the state. This was his first visit to the state since its creation in June 2014. He had set out on similar walks in Maharashtra and Punjab before.

Chhattisgarh: 2 IAS officers pulled up for breaking dress code during PM visit
Two Chhattisgarh Indian Administrative Service officials were warned for breaking the dress code during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state on  May 9. Bastar collector Amit Kataria was warned for not wearing the customary uniform and meeting the Prime Minister with sunglasses on. He was served notice on May 13 for violation of Rule 3 (1) of All India Service Rules that calls for maintaining integration and devotion to durty and not doing anything which is unbecoming of a member of the service. Dantewada Collector KC Devsenapati was served a similar notice for not adhering the dress code. Both officers have been asked not to violate the code in future.

Haryana: Hope land deal probe will not be used for political vendetta, says Robert Vadra
Haryana government’s one-member commission to probe the land deals should not be used for political vendetta, Robert Vadra said on Friday. "Neither me nor anyone associated with me has anything to hide. Compliance of all laws were followed in a completely transparent manner,” he said. Haryana government had formed the commission on Thursday to investigate license granted to companies in land deals to develop commercial colonies in Sector 83 of Gurgaon. Later in the day, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government doesn’t believe in vendetta politics.
