Doval to visit Myanmar 
A day after Indian security forces reportedly carried out strikes against Indian insurgent groups across Myanmar's borders, army officials  have indicated that more such operations are likely given the "scale of the militant infrastructure in the area". According to these officials, there are 20 militant camps that will be potential targets. It was also announced that National Security Adviser Ajit Doval would visit Myanmar soon to discuss joint actions against insurgents. Myanmar has claimed that the operation only took place on the Indian side.

Domestic violence case against AAP leader
Aam Aadmi Party leader Somnath Bharti has been accused of domestic violence by his wife Lipika Bharti in a complaint registered with the Delhi Commission of Women. The 25-page complaint alleges that Lipika Bharti faced physical and mental torture from the politician, who has threatened to kill her. A police report has also been filed against Somnath Bharti, though no FIR has been registered. The Delhi Commission of Women has asked the AAP leader to appear before them on June 26. In December 2014, Bharti had created a controversy as state law minister when he conducted unsanctioned raids in Delhi's Khirkee Extension area, accusing foreign nationals living there of being involved in illegal activities.

Collegium system inefficient, says Attorney-General
The collegium system of appointing judges has led to inefficient judges being promoted, claimed Attorney-General Mukul Rohatgi, arguing in favour of the National Judicial Appointments Commission to be implemented. Rohatgi argued in court that there were a number of instances of inefficient judges causing problems in higher offices. The judiciary had done nothing to rectify the situation, he said. A government statement or  action could have been interpreted as interference in the workings of the judiciary, he said.

Land bill changes crucial for housing: Venkaiah Naidu
The Land Acquisition Act must be amended to ensure that adequate land is available for housing infrastructure in urban areas, Union Minister for Housing and Poverty Alleviation Venkaiah Naidu said on Wednesday. He told a Parliamentary Consultative Committee that the proposed amendment would make it easier to create two crore affordable houses in urban areas by 2022. The amendment will add five categories that will be exempted from requiring mandatory consent before acquisition, affordable housing being one of them.

India undocks aircraft carrier
The country's first indigenously-built aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, was undocked at a small ceremony in Kochi on Wednesday. The carrier, built at Cochin Shipyard Limited, will now face static and dynamic tests before being inducted into the Navy. The 40,000 tonne aircraft carrier will be India's largest carrier, sporting two take-off runways and one landing strip as well as a range of helicopters and hangar facilities.
