I hope we understand that time is running out, if we don't fix our misdeeds and reinstate the natural healthy conditions, it will be irrevocably disastrous for the generations to come.

No one denies the need and role for development for the nation to march onward ! But development should not be at the cost vitals for sustenance of life.Time and again, there have been warnings on the consequences of alarming pollution levels including the shortening of life span. The recent instance of declaring a ‘health emergency’ in the nation’s capital is a grim reminder for us to be more cautious towards our environs. The narrative that regulations are slackened to improve the ‘ease of doing business’ does not hold water as such a move may have a whipsawed effect of rising pollution and no substantial flow of investments if they do not flow in.It is known that investments do not flow merely by an improved ranking. An improved ranking helps, but it will not necessarily lead to higher investments. In fact, there are countries which stand as great examples where a lower rank did not deter the inflow of FDI.All in all, in a vital area such as pollution control, especially with ever increasing concerns on it, measures like self compliance of the stipulated norms may not be congenial.
