The Chinese have been occupying Indian land since 1962, mostly due to Rahul's great-grandfather's naivety in his dealings with Mao. What's worse, they threaten India's critical water supplies, at a time when it will get more tense due to the effects of global warming.
Given China's much higher level of economic development (once again, due to Nehru stifling the Indian economy with Socialism) and far larger military budget, India cannot contain them alone. She needs alliances with the US, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Vietnam and other like-minded nations, without becoming an American satellite.
All of this will require deft diplomacy and a long-term outlook, and a national consensus that avoids cheap partisan hit jobs from either the BJP or Congress. So far, neither party has risen to the occasion.
Narendra Modi and his party BJP in 2013 demanded the same way that today Congress is demanding and it is quiet, which they say is everything is okay. How come suddenly 20 jawans died in confrontation with the Chinese. Now Modi calls that the death of Jawans would not go in vain. During all these years of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister we have seen how he made many trips to china which he called informal and how he invited President of China two times and he gave it publicity as if they are such a great friend and now all issues will be settled amicably. Also that Modi was all these years giving an impression that China and its leadership despite their position vis a vis relations with Pakistan was very close to India and sooner or later Pakistan would be fully isolated from their ally china. Why was all these exercise to prove his own image that all these 70 years what India could not do, Modi has done it. The rhetoric during the last election that those who want to harm us we will enter into their house and kill them. Was this rhetoric or reality? Modi goes to prove that the surgical strikes and Balakote exercise was the lesson that Pakistan was given. But for China?
