A group of five men allegedly gangraped a woman and assaulted her male friend on Tuesday evening near Chamundi Hills on the outskirts of Karnataka’s Mysuru city, NDTV reported, citing the police. The woman is an MBA student at a private college, according to The Times of India.

No arrests have been made in the case so far.

The group of men, who were reportedly drunk, accosted the man and the woman and demanded money from them near Lalithadripura area. When they refused to give them money, the group attacked the two.

Chamundi Hills is a popular tourist spot, but the exact location where the incident occurred is not frequented by locals and has no street lights, reports said.

A First Information Report has been registered at the Alanahalli police station. A police team has visited the site of the incident, according to The Hindu. The two have been admitted to a hospital and are in a stable condition.

The police are waiting for the medical reports of the woman.

On Wednesday, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that he has asked the state director general of police to take stringent action in the case, ANI reported.
