The study conducted by the Institute for Economics and Peace ranks 162 countries according to their peace levels, using indicators like military expenditure, displacement and refugee figures, and extent of domestic and international conflict.
Since the previous report, India dropped two places to occupy the 143rd position. Iceland, Denmark and Austria rank the highest in the index while Syria has replaced Afghanistan as the world's least- peaceful country.
