On Thursday, India meets Pakistan in the finals of the Asian Games hockey tournament for the fist time in 32 years. The stakes are high: the winner of the clash will get a direct ticket into the Rio Olympics in 2016.

The last Asiad final clash between the arch-rivals did not end well for India. On home turf at the Dhyan Chand Stadium in Delhi, the hosts were trashed 1-7.

In fact, history would seem to give Pakistan the upper hand in the match. Of the eight times that the rivals have met in an Asian Games final, Pakistan has triumphed six times. The last time India was in the final, in Busan in 2002, it lost to South Korea.

India, of course, will be eager to break the jinx when the rivals meet for their 160th match at 3.30 pm on October 2.

To get you into the mood, here are four meetings between the two hockey giants.
