Chris Gayle, otherwise known as the GayleStorm, is at the peak of his career at the age of 35. The Jamaican may not be playing many international matches but on the domestic T20 circuit, no one would want to be bowling to him. In his 201st T20 match, playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League, Gayle became the first batsmen to hit 500 sixes. He may have got out for a dismal 10 runs in the match, but that one six was enough to capture the record.

On April 13, Gayle had become the first ever cricketer to surpass 200 sixes in the Indian Premier League season. In the eight seasons so far, Gayle has now hit 206 sixes – his closest competitor being Suresh Raina, with 143 sixes. That's a whopping difference of 63 sixes or 378 runs.  Gayle has thus scored 1,236 runs just in sixes in the Indian Premier League.

Over the course of his 45 T20 international matches, Gayle has hit 87 sixes, almost two a match. He's also touching 1,000 runs, and is only 14 runs short.

Gayle has had his share of differences with the West Indies Cricket Board and hence played limited matches but his domestic career clearly is flourishing. Having now played 201 T20 matches in all, 156 of them being domestic matches, the Gayle juggernaut just doesn't stop.  He has also become the first ever batsmen to score over 7,000 runs in T20 matches. He now has 7,194 runs from 201 matches, 3,000 of which have been scored by just smashing the ball over the boundary line for a six.

He's played for a number of different teams in his career – Barisal Burners, Dhaka Gladiators, Jamaica, Jamaica Tallawahs, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lions, Matabeleland Tuskers, PCA Masters XI, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Stanford Superstars, Sydney Thunder and Western Australia – and played his heart out for each and every one of them.

His most powerful weapon is hitting the ball over the boundary for a six. In fact, the closest cricketer to him in terms of sixes, is his fellow countryman Kieron Pollard with 348 sixes. Next in the list is Brendon McCullum with 261 sixes.

In the 2012 and 2013 seasons of the IPL, Gayle hit 59 and 51 sixes at an average of almost 3 sixes per match. He has already hit 14 sixes in this season, which is not even mid-way through. Watch this space.
