Board exams, particularly 12th standard board exams, are the most crucial in a young student's life as they pretty much determine the career choices available after school, thus paving the road to achieve what many observers call the middle class Indian dream of becoming a doctor or an engineer, if not a chartered accountant – or, indeed, anything else one wishes to pursue.

As the Central Board of Secondary Education set out to release the results of standard 12 exams on Monday, anxiety ran high, once more in anticipation of the miracles we have come to expect out of the students. No surprise, then, that many celebrities including comedian Vir Das, took to social media to reassure youngsters that despite all the hype and importance accorded to these marks, they are not an end by themselves and regardless of what one scores in these exams, there are bigger and more exciting challenges ahead.

There were also those who used the opportunity to shoot satirical arrows at the education system, anxiety among the college aspirants and of course, the CBSE which had postponed the date of results announcement recently.
