Rajasthan: CBI files case against Karti Chidambaram as well
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday filed a case of fraud against the son of former Union minister P Chidambaram, Karti Chidambaram, and former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot among others over alleged irregularities in allotting a contract to operate the 108-Ambulance service in Rajasthan. Former Jaipur mayor Pankaj Joshi in a police complaint had alleged irregularities in granting the contract to Ziqitza Health Care Private Limited and other violations, including over-billing, by the firm. Others named in the case are state Congress chief Sachin Pilot, former Rajasthan health minister AA Khan, Ravi Krishna, son of former Union minister Vayalar Ravi, and directors of Ziqitza, the firm entrusted with running the services.

Delhi: AAP minister urges FIR against Sheila Dixit
Two months after initiating an inquiry into the water tanker distribution system of the Delhi Jal Board, Law Minister Kapil Mishra asked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to lodge an FIR against former chief minister Sheila Dikshit and others. On June 19, a five-member committee was constituted to probe the hire of 385 stainless steel tankers in 2012. Dikshit was the chairperson of the DJB when these tankers were procured. In its report, the committee stated that the irregularities had resulted in a loss of Rs 400 crore. “The report is-self explanatory and exposes how the then DJB chairperson and chief minister Sheila Dikshitji and other board members have consistently by-passed laws and rules to cause a loss of almost Rs 400 crore to the Delhi Jal Board,” said Mishra’s letter to Kejriwal.

Andhra Pradesh: State-wide bandh begins
The day-long state-wide bandh called by YSR Congress to press for special category status for Andhra Pradesh began on Saturday, with party workers and leaders staging protests in front of bus deports belonging to the State Road Transport Organisation. As a precautionary measure, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada city police have taken over 250 people into preventive custody.

Maharashtra: Sanjeev Khanna confesses to complicity in Sheena murder
Mumbai Police commissioner Rakesh Maria on Friday interrogated all the three key accused including Sanjeev Khanna, Indrani Mukerjea and her driver in the Sheena Bora murder case. Sheena Bora's brother, Mikhail, was also present. "We have recovered the skeletical remains today which shall be dispatched for the DNA test tomorrow," Rakesh Maria said. "Police have recovered Sheena's passport from Dehradun, which belies the claim that she went to the USA."

Tamil Nadu: Biopharma attracts huge investments
The biopharmaceutical industry has attracted more investments than the traditional pharmaceutical sector said M Velmurugan, a senior official in Tamil Nadu's Industries Department. According to a report published by PricewaterhouseCoopers for the Department of Pharmaceuticals, the biopharmaceutical market is expected to be worth ₹21 lakh crore ($319 billion) by 2020, up from ₹9 lakh crore in 2009.
