Mahachandra Prasad Singh on Sunday denied meeting Lalu Prasad on behalf of former Chief Minister Jitan Ram manjhi. He alleged that elements in the grand alliance of Rashtriya Janata Dal-Janata Dal (United)-Congress were trying to create confusion in the National Democratic Alliance. "It is true that I had gone to Delhi, but it was for attending a meeting of NDA leaders over the seat sharing," Singh said. "It is quite possible that some people from the opponent camp have been trying to create confusion.”
Mumbai: Indrani taken home to collect evidence
Indrani Mukerjea was taken to her home in Mumbai to recreate the crime conspiracy and gather evidence on Sunday. A team of officers from the Bandra and Khar police stations escorted Mukerjea home. The development came a day before Indrani Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai were due to be produced before the Bandra magistrate's court on Monday. The three allegedly murdered Mukherjea's daughter Sheena Bora on April 24, 2012.
Andhra Pradesh: Government asks TISS to boost job skills
Andhra Pradesh government signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences on Saturday in the presence of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and state HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao. The MoU envisages implementation of the Andhra Pradesh University Students Employability Skill Development Programme, a flagship initiative of the AP government. The MoU involves strategic partnerships with civil society organisations, public sector bodies, private sector institutions and social entrepreneurship organisations to complement the efforts of the AP State Knowledge Mission.
Jammu and Kashmir: Valley to protest lack of flood aid
Accusing the state government and the Centre of failing to rehabilitate victims of the devastating floods, the Kashmir Economic Alliance has called for complete shutdown in the Valley on September 7. After the deluge hit the Valley, the Congress-National Conference government had sought a financial assistance of Rs 44,000 crore from the Centre to rehabilitate the victims. The Centre had rejected the proposal, saying that it had been prepared without any groundwork.
Karnataka: Dalits fined for entering temple
The Scheduled Caste community at Sigaranahalli village of Karnataka is furious after the upper castes imposed a penalty on four Dalit women for entering a temple. The women have refused to pay the penalty arguing that they too have rights to enter the temple as they contribute money to organise its festival. “I will get details from the people concerned and take appropriate action,” said NR Purushottam, district social welfare officer.
