Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday launched a fierce verbal attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party at a Dussehra rally in Mumbai. Thackeray mocked the BJP, which is the Shiv Sena’s ally in the Maharashtra government, on many issues such as the Ayodhya Ram mandir, inflation and beef politics.

After BJP leaders such as Arun Jaitley and LK Advani criticised the Shiv Sena for "rising incidents of intolerance and vandalism", Thackeray did not go so far as to say that he will break the alliance, but warned that the party will not "lower our voice".

Thackeray also criticised the BJP's condemnation of the ink attack carried out by Shiv Sena workers on former politician Sudheendra Kulkarni on October 12. Justifying the assault, Thackeray said that the country had been defamed because of incidents such as the Dadri lynching and not the ink attack on Kulkarni.
