ISI spying racket: Former Indian Air Force officer arrested
The man, whose first name was revealed as Ranjith, allegedly shared secret information via e-mails and text messaging services.
The Delhi police on Tuesday arrested a man who was dismissed by the Indian Air Force for allegedly spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency. The man, whose first name was revealed as Ranjith, allegedly shared secret information with operatives of an ISI-backed espionage ring via e-mails and text messaging services, reported PTI. A senior official said Ranjith was roped into the ring by an unidentified woman whom he had met over a social networking site.
On December 5, the Delhi Police had arrested a school teacher from the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the racket, allegedly headed by suspected ISI operative Kafaitullah Khan. He was the first person to be arrested in Delhi on November 26, while he was heading to Bhopal to attend a religious congregation and allegedly recruit more spies.
This was followed by the arrests of a serving Border Security Force head constable Abdul Rasheed and a former Army hawaldar, identified as Munawwar Ahmad Mir. Sabar is believed to be the one through whom Khan met Rasheed, Mir and his other associates, said a senior police official.
