Tinder picks Delhi for its first overseas office
The dating app is looking to establish its presence in India, and has chosen Harvard graduate Taru Kapoor to run its operations here.
United States-based dating app Tinder on Wednesday announced that it has chosen India as the first overseas country it will operate out of, with Delhi as its headquarters. Harvard Business School graduate Taru Kapoor, who has prior experience with top consultancy and venture capital firms, will head the office, the company said. Kapoor is in charge of establishing the brand in India and expanding its user base, according to Hindustan Times.
The app, which was launched in 2010, works in 196 countries, and is a top player in 70 of them. The platform connects people who want to date using a simple interface, and has gained popularity in India over the last few years.
“We have exciting plans for Tinder in 2016 and having Taru on board is a step towards making India one of our core markets,” said Tinder’s founder Sean Rad.
