Google India on Wednesday rolled out new features and resources designed to provide greater cyber security to users, reported the Economic Times. The internet giant said Indian users are becoming more conscious about cyber security with more people using the Internet, and the country seeing a rise in smartphone users. According to search trends released by Google, there have been 20% more searches for "change password" and searches for "two-step verification" have gone up by 97% in the past one year. During the same period, searches for "how to track a lost phone" has shot up by 591%.

Sunita Mohanty, director of trust and safety, said with five million new users a month, the company was committed to ensuring that the data and profiles of all its users was safe. Google says it has simplified its security settings to making trustworthy messages easier to spot in Gmail. The company also has launched multiple awareness drives about online safety among Indian Internet users. To prompt its users to check their security, the company has offered users 2 GB of extra storage on Google Drive if they complete the security check-up by February 11. To access the security check, Google users have to go through their 'My Account' page.
