Students and parents across Karnataka launched protests after the Class 12 chemistry examination paper of the state Department of Pre-University Education (pictured above) was leaked for the second time in 10 days on Monday, reported CNN-IBN. According to the report, the exam was first postponed last week after the board found that the papers scheduled for March 21 were leaked. More than 1.7 lakh students have been affected by the paper being rescheduled again, The Times of India said. According to ANI, 40 employees from the department have been suspended.

Students and parents are demanding the dismissal of Education Minister K Ratnakar, while reports say some Congress MLAs have also joined the protest. The first question paper was leaked near an examination centre in a women’s college in Bellary, 330 km from Bengaluru. Pallavi Akurthi, director of the Department of Pre-University Education, told The Times of India she was informed about the second question paper leak around 3 am on Thursday, March 31.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the Crime Investigation Department will look into the incidents, adding that Ratnakar will not be asked to resign.
