At least 30 have died in Odisha as the state grapples with a severe heat wave that has sent temperatures to well above 40°C in several areas, reported PTI. The deaths are believed to have been a result of sunstroke, though this has not been officially confirmed so far.

Most deaths were recorded in the Khurda district followed by the Cuttack district. On Wednesday, the capital city of Bhubaneshwar seared at 42.2°C with a relative humidity of 81%. At 45°C, it was the hottest in Titlagarh in the western district of Bolangir, and 18 other places recorded temperatures above 40°C.
