After two consecutive losses, the Delhi Daredevils thrashed the Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday. Delhi's win took them back to third in the points table with 12 points, and ended Hyderabad's winning streak of four matches. The hosts, however, maintained their position at the top of the points table, with 14 in 11 matches.

Delhi won the toss and produced a brilliant bowling performance to keep Hyderabad to a modest 146/8 in 20 overs. It didn't look good for the visitors at the start, as Hyderabad openers Shikhar Dhawan (34 off 37 balls) and David Warner (46 off 30 balls) gave their team another flying start, scoring 51 runs in the six Powerplay overs.

However, after the two openers were dismissed, Hyderabad slumped from 98/1 at one stage to 143/8. All of Delhi's bowlers performed well, with Nathan Coulter-Nile (2/25) and Amit Mishra (2/19) standing out. The hosts were at least 25-30 runs short of a defendable total at this ground.

Delhi hardly broke a sweat in the chase, with Quinton de Kock (44 off 31 balls) getting them off to a good start. There were a few nervy minutes around the halfway stage of the innings when they lost two wickets in the ninth over. Hyderabad would have sniffed a comeback, but Sanju Samson (34 not out off 26 balls) and Rishabh Pant (39 not out off 26 balls) combined for an unbroken 72-run partnership to take their team home comfortably with 11 balls to spare.
