Messaging app WhatsApp has been found to be the most widely used Android texting service more than half the world. The Facebook-owned messaging service came out on top in 109 of 187 countries surveyed by data analytics firm SimilarWeb.

In India, the app is installed on 94.8% of all Android devices and is used for an average of 37 minutes every day, according to the report. It has a strong user base in Brazil, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Russia, and several countries in South America, as well. WhatsApp trumped Facebook’s own Messenger app, which came in second with a strong presence in 49 countries, including Australia, Canada, and the United States.

Viber took the third spot, with the survey claiming it was popular in 10 or more countries, including Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine, and others in Eastern Europe. Other messaging apps in the race were Line, WeChat and Telegram. Some apps were found to have a loyal user base in only one country, such as KakaoTalk in South Korea, imo in Cuba, Zalo in Vietnam, ChatOn in Eritrea, and Blackberry Messenger in Indonesia.
