With two new services added to its gamut, taxi aggregator Ola Cabs will now cater to intercity travel as well as provide cars for rentals, reported the Economic Times. With the outstation and rental services, the Bengaluru-based company wants to capture the transportation sector in totality.

A customer can now book an Ola cab to travel from one city to the other by opting for the intercity travel on the app, two hours before the time of journey. The new rental service will allow people to take a car from Ola on hourly packages, instead of point-to-point transportation.

Experts believe that the new launches are part of Ola's plan to reduce car ownership. "The company may launch self-drive or on-demand drivers in future. The company has a dedicated user base of people who are using the taxi service, so it is easy to sell these services to commuters," said Jaspal Singh, a transport analyst at Valoriser Consultants.
