An FIR has been filed against Aam Aadmi Party legislator Somnath Bharthi for allegedly "instigating" a few men to behave inappropriately with a woman earlier in July. A case has been registered at Delhi's Saket Police Station, in which he has been charged for abetment, The Indian Express reported. The men involved have been booked for molestation, criminal intimidation and use of criminal force.

Earlier, a chargesheet had been field against Bharthi for attempted murder of wife Lipika Mitra and subjecting her to cruelty, in a case of domestic violence. He faces molestation and assault charges, as well as allegations of provoking animosity during the January 2014 raids on Africans in New Delhi's Khirki Extension area.

AAP was drawn into a controversy on Tuesday after a woman activist of the party, who had accused fellow AAP member Ramesh Wadhwa of sexually harassing her, committed suicide by consuming poison. She has suspected that an AAP MLA had been shielding the accused, her family claimed.
