Aam Aadmi Party legislator Kartar Singh Tanwar's south Delhi residence and offices were raided by Income Tax department officials on Wednesday, reported Hindustan Times. Ahead of the 2015 assembly polls, the Chattarpur MLA declared his total assets worth Rs 17.65 crore to the Election Commission.

Reacting to the news, party leader Dilip Pandey took to Twitter, and said, "Just in: Income Tax raid on Chhatarpur MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar. Modiji had unleashed Central Bureau of Investigation, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Delhi Police earlier, now I-T too, Aam Aadmi Party won't bow down, won't bend." AAP leader Sanjay Singh expressed similar views, and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre of targeting their party MLAs.

On Tuesday, a woman activist of the party accused Janakpuri legislator Rajesh Rishi of extortion. The woman reportedly tried to commit suicide on July 15, reported NDTV. In her suicide note, she has purportedly named the lawmaker and said he was harassing her. The woman's husband has been accused of rape by another woman, whom she also claimed harassed her.

Rishi has denied the allegations. "I do not know the woman who has levelled allegations against me. But, I know the other woman as a party worker. My name has been unnecessarily dragged into their dispute," he said.

AAP members, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, have accused the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government of conspiring against them. Recently, Kejriwal's former principal secretary, Rajendra Kumar, was arrested on corruption charges, while several AAP legislators have had cases filed against them.
