Sacked MP of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party, Sasikala Pushpa, now has police protection on the orders of the Delhi High Court, after she alleged that her life was in danger. She had sought "complete protection" with "immediate effect" for both herself and her family, alleging that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and other MPs were threatening her to resign from the party, The Indian Express reported.

In a complaint filed at Delhi's North Avenue police station, she said: "...I don't want to resign from my constitutional post. If I don't resign, then I may face a threat to my life. Thus, I place this criminal complaint...Else, I cannot even survive for a minute…I may be attacked and harassed by party people," she said in her complaint to the district commissioner of police.

The former Tuticorin mayor was expelled from the AIADMK on Monday, August 1, for allegedly physically assaulting Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MP Trichy Siva at Delhi airport on Saturday, July 31. AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa said Pushpa had brought disrepute to the party and asked for her to be dismissed.

The high court also directed police to ensure that she has an escort whenever she goes to Parliament. It scheduled the next hearing for November 15.

Moreover, an AIADMK member, Rajesh, has claimed that Pushpa duped him of Rs 20 lakh. He said she had taken the money from him to get a contact for a highway project, according to The Times of India.
