The Punjab Police arrested three Khalistani militants in connection with the recent attack on Jagdish Gagneja, vice-president of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s state unit, reported ANI. MF Farooqui, Inspector General of the force's counter intelligence department, said the men had links in England, Belgium and Pakistan. Investigators recovered two pistols and cartridges from the militants.

Gagneja was shot at in Jalandhar on August 6. The right-wing leader and retired army officer sustained three bullet injuries. Following the attack, the state police set up a special investigation team to probe the incident. Gagneja was reportedly shot by two masked men who fled the scene. Earlier this year, Shiv Sena leader Durga Prasad was killed in Khanna, Punjab.
