Four people were reported dead after separate explosions hit a resort in Hua Hin (pictured above) and Phuket in Thailand between Thursday night and Friday morning. At least 20 people were injured in the series of blasts. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha appealed for peace and the Thai police said it was not a terror attack. Chan-O-Cha said, “The bombs are an attempt to create chaos and confusion. We should not make people panic more.”

Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan said the explosions were “absolutely conducted by the same network. I believe so. But the investigation is unclear on who actually did it, what are the reasons behind it,” The New York Times reported. Hua Hin’s district chief, Sutthipong Klai-udom, told AFP the bombs at the resort were detonated using a mobile phone.

The attacks came as tourists flocked to Hua Hin for the weekend celebrated as the birthday of Thailand's Queen Sririkit. Hua Hin also houses the royal family’s summer palace and is a popular tourist destination.
