The Delhi Anti-Corruption Bureau on Sunday questioned former state Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in connection with her alleged role in the Rs 400-crore water tanker scam, reported ANI. The Congress leader confirmed that the bureau had submitted a questionnaire regarding the scam to her, adding that it will take her some time to answer the eighteen questions on the document.

Dikshit’s questioning took place almost two months after she was asked to join the investigation into the case, following the registration of First Information Reports against her and current Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The two were charged under various laws, including the Prevention of Corruption Act and the criminal breach of trust by a public servant.

The Dikshit-headed Delhi Jal Board in 2012 awarded contracts to private companies for leasing 385 stainless steel water tankers. The Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party government in the state ordered a team to investigate the tenders in June 2015 and found serious irregularities in the contracts, following which a report on the matter was filed in August of that year. Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung then forwarded the report to the investigating agency on June 17, 2016, which led to the filing of the cases against Dikshit and Kejriwal.
