Singer Chris Brown arrested for allegedly threatening a woman with a gun
The Los Angeles police department took the 27-year-old musician in custody after a long standoff outside his home in the Tarzana neighbourhood.
R&B singer Chris Brown was arrested by the Los Angeles Police on Tuesday for allegedly threatening a woman with a gun, reported Reuters. The 27-year-old musician took to social media and denied charges of wrongdoing before he was taken into custody after a long standoff with the police at his residence in the city's Tarzana neighbourhood.
The police officers reached his home after receiving a distress call from a woman, who said the singer had pointed a gun at her. She was also allegedly asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement while still with Brown, but she managed to flee the property, reported The Los Angeles Times. According to the woman, she had gone to Brown's house along with a business associate, who was invited by the musician.
The complainant said a man was showcasing diamond jewellery and watches in the house, and she was admiring them, when Brown started yelling at her and abusing her. "I don’t know if it was Chris’ friend or how he was related, but that’s when he told me to back away from the diamond necklace and started cussing me out and calling me names," she said. "That’s when Chris pulled his gun and told me to ‘Get out,’ he said. ‘I’m sick of you girls, get the F out!"
She also alleged that Brown's associates chased her and tried to force her into signing a nondisclosure agreement, but she managed to run out of the property to a neighbour's house, who called the police. The police officers, who arrived at the scene were kept waiting outside for hours as Brown demanded they get a search warrant to enter the property. While the police waited outside, Brown took to Instagram and posted videos in which he said, "I don't sleep half the damn night I just wake up to all these ... helicopters, choppers is around, police out there at the gate." Lieutenant Chris Ramirez of the Los Angeles Police Department said, "He is being transported to robbery homicide, where he will be arrested for assault with a deadly weapon."
Brown had in 2009 pled guilty in a felony assault charge filed by singer and his former girlfriend Rihanna.
