Five Indians have been arrested in Kunming International Airport in Yunnan for allegedly smuggling drugs into China, reported IANS. Lawyers told the Hindustan Times that if convicted, the five will either get a 15-year long term in jail, a life term, or could be sentenced to death.

The five youths, who flew to China from Kolkata on September 7, were found in possession of 18 kg of cannabis that they reportedly hid in food packets and laptop bags. Indian Embassy officials in China told IANS that they will meet Sheikh Ahmad Ali, Akrar Khan, Feroz Khan, Sheikh Ismail and Maqsud Alam on September 21.
