A 14-year-old boy opened fire in a schoolyard in South Carolina, United States, on Wednesday, leaving a teacher and two students injured. One of them, a child named Jacob, is believed to be in critical condition, NBC News reported. A volunteer firefighter managed to tackle the shooter to the ground till the police arrived and arrested him. The teenager’s father was later found dead in their home with a gunshot wound.

The Townville Elementary School is located in Anderson County, 108 miles northeast of Atlanta. The police said they have not yet found a motive for the crime, though they ruled out terrorism. They also said it is unclear what the connection between the boy and the school was – he did not attend it and was being home schooled. The boy’s father was identified as Jeffrey Osborne, 47. His family made a call to 911 when they found his body soon after the shooting.
