Indian Coast Guard officials said the crew are being interrogated and will be questioned further at Porbandar.
A Pakistani boat with nine fishermen was reportedly intercepted by an Indian Coast Guard team off the coast of Gujarat on Sunday, The Indian Express reported. The nine crew members are being interrogated.
The Coast Guard's Public Relations Officer Wing Commander Abhishek Matiman said, "In the prevailing security scenario, wherein enhanced vigil with deployment of ships and aircraft by the Indian Coast Guard is being exercised off the Gujarat coast, the Indian Coast Guard ship Samudra Pavak apprehended a Pakistani boat with nine crew members at about 10.15 am today.”
The boat and and its crew will be taken to Porbandar for further investigation.
Ties between India and Pakistan have deteriorated after the Uri attack and India's surgical strike on Pakistan. While India has accused Islamabad of harbouring terrorists who planned the attack on an Army camp in Kashmir, Pakistan has dismissed the claims, calling them baseless.
