Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said the India-Pakistan border would be completely sealed by December 2018. The government will also put in place a “Border Security Grid” after taking inputs from the states around the Line of Control.

Singh said, “Tension between India and Pakistan has increased, countrymen should trust security forces and stand by them.” When asked about Rahul’s Gandhi’s dalali remark, the Union minister said, “People, working in any field must show restraint at time of escalated tensions.” Singh visited border outposts in Jaisalmer and Barmer to take stock of the situation there. The minister’s review of the security situation comes only days after The Indian Army carried out surgical strikes on terror launch pads near the LoC in Pakistan.

Relations between the two counties worsened after the Uri attack that took place on September 18. During the review meeting on the Indus Waters Treaty, Modi said that "blood and water cannot flow together", referring to the multiple infiltration attempts staged by militants from across the border and other attacks on India carried out by radicals from Pakistan. The treaty determines how water from six rivers that pass through the two countries will be shared. Modi recently held meetings to review trade relations and the Indus Waters Treaty with Islamabad.
