An encounter is underway at a government building in Pampore, on the outskirts of Srinagar. Militants attacked a police party stationed at a building in the premises of the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Pampore's Sempora locality, an officer said, according to The Indian Express.

No casualties have been reported so far, but a soldier has been injured, according to NDTV. Two to three militants are suspected to be hiding on the premises of the EDI, and gunshots can be heard sporadically.

The building, which was also attacked in February, caught fire earlier in the morning, but the cause has not been ascertained yet, the officer added. However, an Army official said gunshots were heard inside soon after the fire. Firefighters have not been allowed inside for security reasons.

The last encounter at the institute went on for more than 48 hours. At least three militants were killed in the gunfight, besides two soldiers and a civilian.
