Cricket: West Indies beat India women's team in final T20I to sweep series 3-0
The visitors struck with the ball and reduced the hosts to 32/3 at one point.
The West Indies women’s team defeated India by 15 runs in the third Twenty20 International at Vijayawada on Tuesday, winning the series 3-0. While West Indies was not great with the bat, posting 139 runs, they were able to take three quick wickets.
The visitors started off emphatically, with openers Hayley Matthews and Stafanie Taylor putting up 61 runs for the first wicket in 6.4 overs. Matthews scored 47 in 22 balls, while Taylor batted till the end of the innings and remained unbeaten on 44. None of pace bowlers could throw a challenge to West Indies. Anuja Patil conceded 13 runs in her first over while Shikha Pandey gave away 16 runs. Spinners Poonam Yadav and Harmanpreet Kaur, however, gave India some respite.
West Indies struck with the ball and reduced India to 32/3 at one point. Veda Krishnamurthy and Harmanpreet Kaur struck a good partnership, adding 92 runs, but at the end of 20 overs, they only managed to reach 124/3.
West Indies had already clinched the series after winning the first two matches. India had won the One-Day International series that took place before this tournament.
