Tokyo residents on Thursday woke up to the city’s first November snow in 54 years. The unusual weather pattern was reportedly caused by a cold front over the city. The Japan Meteorological Agency said the snow arrived 40 days before it did in 2015. The agency also said transportation services in Kanto region could be disrupted, reported Japan Times.

The agency said 2-cm-deep snow was expected in the Koshin area, while the hilly parts of Kanto might get 15 cm of snow. They predicted 10 cm of snow on the higher altitude Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture areas, and 5 cm in the Kanto plains.
