Home Minister Rajnath Singh will lead an Indian delegation to former Cuban President Fidel Castro’s funeral rites, ANI reported on Monday. The leader of the Communist revolution in Cuba died at the age of 90 on Saturday. A nine-day mourning period has been declared in honour of the iconic leader. His brother and Cuban President Raul Castro said the leader was cremated on Saturday.

After the mourning period, the deceased leader’s ashes will be buried in the cemetery of Santa Ifigenia in Santiago de Cuba on December 4, where Cuban national hero Jose Marti was also buried, Havana Times reported.

The Indian Parliament on Monday paid tribute to Castro and referred to him as the “leading light of the Non-Alignment Movement”, of which India was a part during the 1980s.
