The accused was dressed in dark clothing and fled the site, witnesses told police.
A shooter injured three people after forcing his way into a Zurich Islamic Center, which is used as a mosque, on Tuesday, Swiss police said. The victims were praying when the unidentified attacker stormed into the building. Witnesses said the suspect, dressed in dark clothing and a woollen cap, had fled the site, police said.
Officials said a body was found close to the scene of the crime, and a probe was underway to verify any links to the incident. Police said they would release details about the attack, but refused to disclose information about a possible motive. Two of the three male victims, aged 30, 35 and 56, were critically injured.
Switzerland’s Federation of Islamic Organisations said the center was not a member and that it did not have any information about the incident. The Christian majority country has been struggling to accept a rise in in its Muslim population that has increased with immigration.
