The BlackBerry Evolve X and BlackBerry Evolve have been launched in India at a private event held Delhi today, August 2nd. BGR India reported that Optiemus Infracom, BlackBerry’s licensee in India, revealed the two handsets, which have been conceptualised, designed, and manufactured in India and will be exclusively available in the country.

Both BlackBerry devices, the Evolve and Evolve X, sport a 5.99-inch full-HD+ LCD display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5, a Series 7000 aluminium frame, and a BlackBerry textured and rubberised back panel. A rear-mounted fingerprint sensor is common on both devices and this is the first time that BlackBerry has equipped the phones with Face Unlock feature.

BlackBerry Evolve and Evolve X India price and release dates

BlackBerry Evolve, the entry-level variant of the two models, has been priced at Rs.24,990 and will go on sale in India by the end of August 2018. On the other hand, the BlackBerry Evolve X will retail at Rs.34,990 and will be available in the lone 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant. The Evolve X will go on sale starting in mid-September. Both smartphones will be made available in India initially via Amazon, and subsequently via offline retailers.

About the BlackBerry Evolve X

The BlackBerry Evolve X is powered by the 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, coupled with an Adreno 512 GPU and 6GB of RAM. On-board storage is capped at 64GB, expandable via microSD card (up to 2TB). In terms of camera specifications, the Evolve X sports a dual rear camera setup with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 13-megapixel secondary sensor with a 6MP lens and dual-tone LED flash. Notably, the Evolve X comes with a wireless charger as well.

About the BlackBerry Evolve

On the other hand, the BlackBerry Evolve is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC, paired with an Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB of RAM. Internal storage on the Evolve is capped at 64GB. The BlackBerry Evolve has a dual rear camera setup with two 13-megapixel sensors that come with f/2.0 aperture, RGB+Mono mode, and dual tone LED flash.

Both phones share camera features including refocus mode, 4X autofocus, and slow motion video. On the front, both of them bear a 16-megapixel fixed focus sensor and real-time bokeh mode. And both also pack a 4,000mAh battery under the hood.
