Oppo F9 and F9 Pro launched in India, priced at Rs. 19,990, Rs. 23,990 respectively
In a surprise turn of events, Oppo India launched two different smartphones – F9 and F9 Pro – today as opposed to a single model of F9 launched internationally.
Oppo’s latest offering from the F-series, F9 Pro, was launched today in India amid much fanfare with television celebrity Ranvijay Singh introducing the phone. In terms of specifications and design elements, the F9 Pro is identical to the international Oppo F9 recently launched in Vietnam, Malaysia and Philippines. VOOC fast charging feature hogged all the limelight. Interestingly, the Indian iteration is being offered in one more additional colour variant that is starry purple priced at Rs. 23,990.
Notably, the event also witnessed launch of another device with the moniker Oppo F9. It shares features such as the display size with waterdrop screen, 90.4 per cent screen-to-body ratio, the Helio P60 processor, and 3500mAh battery with its elder sibling, the F9 Pro. However, it doesn’t get the VOOC flash charging technology and comes with 4 GB of RAM and 16 megapixel front sensor missing out on the powerful front snapper from F9 Pro. This offering from Oppo has been priced at Rs 19,990.
Will Yang, brand director Oppo India, speaking about the innovation behind the Oppo mentioned that the brand now has over 29,000 patents registered of which VOOC technology alone accounts for more than 500 patents along with 1800 patents for technological advancement in photography.
The fast charging feature on Oppo F9 Pro that ‘provides 2 hours of talk charge in just 5 minutes’ was further explained by Oppo’s executive Rishabh Srivastava. While referring to VOOC as world’s first low voltage fast charging technology, he elaborated as to how the five layers of protection on F9 Pro makes it completely safe without causing any battery damage.
Moreover, Oppo’s low voltage quick charging innovation results in minimum heating issues and users can play games while enjoying the quick charge feature, Srivastava said. Especially for the Indian market, Oppo has kept voltage fluctuation in mind, which apparently protects the chargers from voltage fluctuations, and the charging cable also has more pins for this, he added.
Oppo F series phones are especially crafted with aesthetically appealing design and powerful camera setup, and this device does not disappoint. Oppo F9 Pro comes with AI-enabled 25-megapixel front camera with host of features such as intelligent scene recognition, clear back-lighting for better low light pictures. It is available with 6GB of RAM and 64GB on internal memory which is expandable to up to 256GB using MicroSD card.
Other key features such as the 6.3-inch FHD+ waterdrop screen, camera specification and the chipset details were made public earlier by the company. Notably, the 3500mAh battery on the F9 Pro uses AI smart battery management system to prevent battery drain. This latest flagship is a Flipkart exclusive for which pre-orders have already begun. Oppo F9 Pro will be available to users from August 31st at all offline stores in India.
