Bappi Lahiri, the gold-studded musician who called himself India's Disco King, will fight for a Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket, a party official announced on Thursday.

“Mr. Lahiri’s becoming a BJP candidate from here will definitely add to the party’s chances of achieving electoral success in West Bengal as he is one of the celebrated musicians of the State as well as of the country,” the BJP’s state unit president Rahul Sinha told The Hindu.

The musician joined the party earlier this month and was welcomed into the fold by president Rajnath Singh.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the musician will perform at party rallies to whip the faithful into a frenzy. But even we would drag ourselves to a saffron party if Bappi were to promise to belt out these three classics.

1) A Tribute to Michael Jackson

2) Justice for Widows
